Prophetic Word for Halftime - July 2023

We are already halfway through 2023, can you believe it? If you made resolutions at the beginning of the year or you have been trusting the Lord for a turnaround in your life but haven’t seen them yet, then you’ll want to read this prophetic message.

Jacob’s Story

During a time of prayer, I felt the Lord highlighting Jacob’s ‘wilderness’ story to me. If you don’t know the story, Jacob fled from his twin brother Esau and ended up with his uncle Laban. This move would send him into a 20-year cycle of hard labor and debt bondage. Talk about regretting your life choices! I’m sure most of us can relate to this – there’s that one decision you made that still has you trying to put out flames (or wildfires!). Well, nothing is too far gone for the Lord to turn around. Jacob is the perfect example of this.

Although Jacob was not in a physical prison, he experienced a system of captivity called slavery. You can read the account in Genesis 29 - 31, but the short version is that Jacob went from having to work an agreed upon seven-year contract for the wife he desired, to experiencing a thirteen-year delay – or so it seemed.

Throughout his hardship, the Lord worked on his character and humbled him. But even as Jacob went through this season, God also increased him greatly. So what seemed like an unjust situation, God was able to turn around in Jacob’s favor.

Get Out of Jail

There is a part of the game where, if you somehow landed on the ‘go to jail’ square, receiving a particular card could make all the difference for you. I am referring to the ‘get out of jail free’ card. This is an earthly example of what grace looks like. In a vision, I saw this card handed out, and the Lord tied this in for me with Jacob’s story.

Then the Angel of God spoke to me in a dream, saying, ‘Jacob.’ And I said, ‘Here I am.’ And He said, ‘Lift your eyes now and see, all the rams which leap on the flocks are streaked, speckled, and gray-spotted; for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you. I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me. Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.’ ” - Genesis 31:11-13

A time came when the Lord initiated an ‘exodus’ from that season for Jacob. He gave him the ‘get out of jail free’ card. Not only was it time for Jacob to get out of prison, but it was also time for him to move into his purpose and prosperity. This is what happened to Joseph as well. The moment Joseph was released from prison and an unjust situation, he was also initiated into purpose and prosperity. It was not just to experience freedom.

Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him quickly out of the dungeon; and he shaved, changed his clothing, and came to Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it.” - Genesis 41:14-15

One of the things the Lord highlighted would be happening in 2023 is FREEDOM. And He is still doing it. The Lord is breaking the bonds of captivity off the lives of many of His people. This captivity could take the form of being in toxic relationships; it can be debt; it could be mental issues, and it may even be bondage to a physical place you need to leave. The Lord wants you to experience freedom in every area of your life – emotionally, mentally, spiritually, financially, and physically.

While the Lord is releasing many from a type of prison and cycle in one season, He is also releasing them into another season. This is known as a lifting season. He brings restoration on this level so you are able to move into your kingdom assignment and purpose.

If you have been in a wilderness season over the last few years, I want you to know that this season has an expiry date on God’s timeline for you. And depending on how you have yielded to the Lord’s work in you, I assure you that He has been increasing you – whether you have recognized it or not. While this increase may not have been financial, it could very well be in the areas of knowledge, wisdom, or even skill. I encourage you to review any positive changes you see in your life over the last few years.

If you have been faithful and endured the process that God has allowed you to go through, then rejoice! The Lord is about to release you into a bigger purpose. Just continue to hold onto your faith, and as the Lord prompts you to leave a certain place or gives you specific instructions on what to do, be quick to do it. This may just be the step that brings your breakthrough this year.

When your kairos moment comes, take that grace card and move into your season of freedom, purpose and prosperity!
