What is a mantle?
1 Samuel 28:14
And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle.
And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.
The hebrew word for mantle is 'addereth (pronounced “ad-deh'-reth”)

A mantle of God is a spiritual uniform that enables an individual to carry out a specific mandate with God's power and Heavenly backing. It gives that individual a higher level of authority to deal with things in a certain area that others may not have.
In the realm of the spirit, mantles identify spiritual authority, power, and rank. There are different mantles, clothing or garments that also reflect what rank of authority someone carries, for example, the navy or army have special uniforms. And furthermore their uniforms indicate their rank, authority and power.
It is not an impartation, anointing or gift. A minister cannot impart a mantle at will to an individual; only God releases it to whom He chooses, and when they've passed His testing and training.
What comes with the mantle?
- The mantle encompasses power, authority, rank, protection/backing, resources.
- It also empowers you with a measure of grace and the glory of God
- You will, however, attract demonic opposition because of that mantle you’re carrying
